The IGC was run by Connaught, part of Connaught Plc, in partnership with Impac Risk & Safety Solutions their New Zealand partner. The successful delegates, which included members of the Royal New Zealand Air Force, were trained by Connaught Principal Health & Safety Consultant Jim Anderson.
Connaught have been delivering HSE training since 1992 and last year trained over 26,000 delegates on an international basis. They were also the winners of the NEBOSH 2008 Awards for Best International General Certificate Candidate and Best General Certificate Candidate.
Mike Cosman, Managing Director of Impac who brought the qualification to New Zealand explained the importance of the IGC, "Occupational safety is not just about saying "No" to things that may involve any degree of risk; it's about having a practical, can-do approach which seeks ways to reduce those risks whilst getting the job done. This course provides an excellent grounding in the core principles and will help ensure the advice that is given is well founded, sensible and cost effective."
Since its launch in New Zealand , the NEBOSH IGC has generated enormous interest from those wishing to enhance their safety knowledge & expertise and have their efforts recognised by a formal qualification. Now with Impac and Connaught New Zealanders have the opportunity to follow internationally accredited courses and already, there is substantial interest in starting a Diploma course out there. |
