Who the Course is For
This course is for people who have a responsibility for environmental issues, their management & implications for their organisation.
Learning Outcomes
- Appreciate how global & local environmental issues evolve, & identify why & how they can be incorporated into the management of an organisation.
- Understand in general terms the impacts of societal activities on the earth's natural systems.
- Outline practical ways in which an organisation can reduce its impacts, both strategically & operationally.
- Understand inter-relationships of the environmental, economic, social & ethical aspects of sustainability.
- Understand in general terms the structure of the regulatory process.
- Determine the key environmental legislation, agreements & initiatives relating to an organisation & their relevance to operations.
- Instigate management controls to ensure that operations do not pollute & compliance is maintained.
- Design & implement processes for the assessment, interpretation & management of environmental performance.
Certification
Successful completion of the course leads to Associate Membership of the Institute of Environmental Management (IEMA).The course assessment consists of the following two compulsory elements: A written practical assignment is undertaken at the candidate's place of work. This must be submitted to CHSS within 2 weeks of the end of week 1 of the course. A 3-hour open book examination is taken on the last day of the course. IEMA membership for the first year is included in the course fees.

Who the Course is For
This course is aimed at those who have only recently become involved in environmental management or for whom environmental management is an integral part of a wide range of responsibilities.
Learning Outcomes
- Appreciate the background behind environmental issues
- Understand the ways in which an organisatioon impacts on the environment
- Appreciate how environmental issues evolve and identify why and how they can be incorporated into the management of an organisation
- Explain how legislation related to an organisation's operations
- Outline the various means of assessing environmental performance and
- Outline the ways in which an Environmental Management System operates.
Certification
