Who the Course is For

This course is aimed individuals responsible for the management of legionnaires disease.

Course Overview

  • Gives detailed information and guidance on the Approved Code of Practice (ACoP)

  • Duties of the 'responsible person'

  • Enables delegates to understand and carry out the responsibilities of the 'named person' as defined in health & safety legislation 

Learning Outcomes
 

After completing the course the delegate will be better able to:

  • ·       Demonstrate an understanding of Legionnaires' disease & Legionella bacteria

    ·       Describe the factors required to create a risk from Legionella bacteria

    ·       Understand the current law and guidance, including COSHH, RIDDOR and ACOP L8

    ·       Identify the Responsible Person, the duties involved and competency required

    ·       Look at the risk management process and distinguish between risk audits and assessments

    ·       Identify the requirements of a written scheme to prevent and control risk;

    ·       Understand what information needs to be monitored and recorded;

    ·       Discuss common technical & funding issues when managing risk, including water hygiene and scalding;

    ·       Discuss sampling for Legionella and when to sample.
