MSc in Occupational Health, Safety & Environmental Management in partnership with the University of Glamorgan

This qualification is designed for successful NEBOSH Diplomats to progress their career in health, safety and environmental management towards a professionally recognised MSc. The programme covers the professional management of the three business risk areas of quality, environment and health and safety through an integrated application of technical and management principles based on national and international standards.

It is delivered by the University of Glamorgan.

Learning Outcomes

Delegates on the programme will:

  • Enhance their knowledge of the technical subject areas in health, safety and sustainable business risk management.
  • Improve on their knowledge, analytical decision making, problem solving skills and competence necessary for successful management of quality, health and safety and/or environmental issues.
  • Develop managerial skills in resources, people, information and finance.
  • Develop the critical abilities necessary for effective communication, team work and use of information technology.
  • Be able to apply technical, legal, economic and management skills based on real life workplace scenarios.

Teaching and Study Methods

All modules on the course will be dedicated exclusively to delegates registered on this MSc. It is taught through the medium of lectures, supplemented by tutorials, seminars, practicals, integrated case study analyses and discussion groups based on real life scenarios A large part of your study time is devoted to private study, directed learning or assessment preparation, the main component of this is the delegate's dissertation.

Accreditation

The successful completion of the dissertation (MSc) will enable delegates who are at GradIOSH level to apply for chartered membership of the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health, using the MSc dissertation for the Skills Development Portfolio (SDP) which is a requirement for the Initial Professional Development (IPD) Scheme. This is an essential qualification for safety practitioners who need to manage safety and integrate the demands of corporate development and legislation. Associate membership of IEMA can be applied for on successful completion of the Environmental Management module.
