The updated Construction Certificate launched by NEBOSH in the Summer 07 comprises 3 units: NGC1 Management of Health & Safety (Unit 1 of the General Certificate), NCC1 Managing & Controlling Hazards in Construction Activities and NCC2 Construction Health & Safety Practical. This Certificate is for delegates who have successfully completed the NEBOSH General Certificate in the last 5 years. The course provides employees in the construction industry with the essential knowledge required to enable them to take an active part in the management of health and safety in their workplace and the best way to integrate risk management into daily operations and monitor it effectively. It covers key construction issues in more technical detail.
The Course is For
The Certificate is designed for people who have an involvement in construction work & need to provide advice on health, safety & welfare in construction work.
Learning Outcomes of the NEBOSH Construction Certificate
At the end of the course you should be able to:
- Understand the main requirements and application of the Construction (Design & Management) Regulations 2007.
- Understand the factors to consider when carrying out a site assessment; identify construction activity hazards, assess the risks and recommend control measures.
- Identify the hazards & and outline appropriate control measures in the following areas: movement of people & vehicles, manual & mechanical handling, work equipment, electrical, chemical & biological, physical & psychological, working at height, excavation work & confined spaces & demolition.
- Successfully carry out a safety inspection of a construction workplace identifying hazards, recommending control measures and preparing a management report
Accreditation
- You will have the academic qualifications for Technician status of IOSH TechIOSH
- You can use the NEBOSH Construction Certificate which is referenced within the Approved Code of Practice (ACOP) for CDM Regulations 2007 as a key knowledge indicator when assessing stage 1 competence for CDM Co-ordinators
Certification
Delegates are awarded the Certificate on successful completion of one 2-hour written paper and a practical assessment which involves safety monitoring of a construction site and the production of a formal report under examination conditions.
