Is the NEBOSH Certificate a recognised qualification?

The NEBOSH Certificate is accepted by IOSH, the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health, in meeting the academic requirements for Technician Membership of IOSH (Tech IOSH). It needs to be accompanied by 5 years health & safety experience

  • It is also accepted by The International Institute of Risk and Safety Management (IIRSM) for associate membership.
  • The NEBOSH Certificate is fast becoming a global qualification and is recognised in many countries as they key health & safety qualification.
  • The NEBOSH Certificate is at level 3 in the National Qualification Framework,  and is accredited by QCA, CEA and DELLS

What does the course cover?

It covers the main legal requirements for safety in the UK, and methods of control of workplace hazards.

Where can I take a course leading to the NEBOSH Certificate?

CHSS hold courses in 19 centres all over the UK. We also hold the NEBOSH Certificate at centres in the Gulf, the rest of the Middle East and India.

Alternatively we hold the course in-house at your specific location agreeing dates to suit.

NEBOSH Certificate Course information?

No previous health & safety knowledge is required but delegates must be able to write short reports.

Examinations are available at CHSS training centres, both in the UK and overseas.

The National General Certificate lasts 10 days plus additional hours of private study. Follow this link for course dates and locations.

Assessment is via two written exams each of two hours duration. The first paper undertaken in the morning is entitled "The Management of Health & Safety" and the afternoon exam is "Controlling workplace hazards".

  • Develop, promote & communicate an effective health & safety culture in an organisation.
  • Identify the key features of a health & safety policy, the preparations & performance review of a health & safety audit.
  • Understand the importance of proactive & reactive health & safety monitoring measures.
  • Identify hazards in the workplace & carry out risk assessments, record findings & review procedures.
  • Advise on strategies for controlling hazards, reducing risks & applying safe systems of work.
  • Identify fire hazards & consequential risks, advise on measures to minimise fire risks & develop fire procedures.
  • Identify ill health effects of physical processes of work & the environment & recommend suitable measures to combat risks.
  • Explain the processes & procedures for investigating & reporting accidents at work.
